Getting Out of Dodge

I’m taking a vacation!

Ok, I’m not really taking a vacation… it’ll be more of a retreat for me. I’m going to hole myself away in a cabin next week and get some important work done. I have a lot of dreams and a lot of ambition and as of right now, I don’t really have a plan. I want to study what it takes to start a business. I want to read and research and get some semblance of a plan in place for my future.

Someone once said to me “you can’t lean on a shovel and pray for a hole”. In other words, things aren’t just going to happen magically, you have to do the work. My current job has been fine, but it’s not what I want long term. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I know I’m on the right path with what I’m doing here (interiors, design, DIY, blogging) and I need to iron out what it really is that I want. If I’m ever going to make this happen for myself, than I need to take the time to do the things necessary to make it happen. I need to pick up my shovel and start digging.

I know myself and if I’m home, I’m not going to be able to stop. I won’t have enough discipline to hunker down and hit the books – I’ll find myself working on my lingering house projects. I’ll inevitably continue to push on with the Instagram grind. I’ll be here with you on my blog. I won’t be able to focus. I won’t be able to prioritize. I won’t stop.

So I’m gettin’ out of Dodge!

You won’t see any blog posts from me next week and you’ll see a lot less of me on the ‘gram. But I’m hoping this coming week will be all kinds of fruitful and I’ll get to come back with a much clearer direction and purpose in everything that I’m doing! Wish me luck!
